Christian defeats Army Navy Academy

  Hank Houston and Kaleb Rumble sparks Christian to CIF Division V Finals

Willauer-Contributing Writer-Army Navy Academy-Carlsbad High School-11-21-25:  In a Division III semi final game that was held on the field of Army Navy Academy.  Things started off the Warriors way after each team traded field goal to the the game at 3-3 Landon Schrum scored on a 96 yard kickoff return 10-3 lead.  

Steve Benson connected on his second field goal that put the Patriots within 4 at 10-6..  

The second half was a different story as Hank Houston 33 yards rushing scored on a 14 yard touchdown run with the PAT good for their first lead at 13-10 followed by Kaleb Runkle's passed for 98 yards threw a 2 yard pass to Soren Lucy to go up 20-10.  The Warriors scored their last touchdown as Judah Bogerd threw an 80 yard pass to Troy Samoa with the PAT good made the final score 20-17. 

Christian Head Football Coach Patrick Bugg:  "We came out and didn't play a strong first some of the penalties us but we put it behind us so we figured out a way to get ourselves together, in the second half our quarterback Kaleb Runkle lifted our team and scored points for us."  

Next week the Patriots of Christian HIgh School will take on Central Union High School a 44-42 win over University City for the D III title which will be held next Friday at Southwestern College kickoff is at 7 PM.

Palomar College ends season with win over Mount San Jacinto

Willauer-Contributing Writer-Saturday, November 8th 2025-Palomar College-San Marcos, CA:  Oceanside alum Jakob Harris threw for a touchdown pass of 63 yards to Furious Hopkins (76 yards receiving) 2 to Vince Landry (66 yards receiving) and Fallbrook alum Chris Bausch leading rusher for the Comets with 101 yards scored on a 3 yard touchdown run paced the Palomar Comets to a 35-28 victory over the Eagles of Mount San Jacinto.  

Joe Earley Palomar Head Football Coach:  "Up 21-14 our guys had 2 weeks of hard practice to prepare for our game, this is a team of resilient and they haven't quit." "There has been time that we had our ups and downs but these guys played hard." "I know these guys were juiced and ready to play it was nice to get out to a 28-14 lead but we haven't made it easy on ourselves, we've let them back in the game we had penalties that killed our drives our defense had some turnovers because of the penalties it was nice to put some points on the board it feels good to get the win"

The Comets end the season at 3-7 and ride a 2 game winning streak.

Palomar losing streak reaches 6 in a row as Saddleback wins 31-10

By David A. Willauer-Conttributing Writer-10-26-25-The Palomar Comets lost their  game in a row as they were defeated by the Saddleback Bobcats at 7-1 by a 31-10 score. 

Carson Beard for the Comets kicked a 30 yard field goal while teammate Giovanni Hart Mission Hills alum scored on a 1 yard run.  Jakob Harris passed for 82 yards and rushed for 42 yards.  Micah Johnson registered 144 yards receiving. 

With the loss the Comets fall to 1-7 will take on Chaffey Junior College on the road.

Willauer-Contributing Writer-10-24-25-Jack Ashby Field at Grizzly Stadium-In a battle of outstanding quarterbacks for Rancho Bernardo in Gage Weddle, the son of former NFL and current Broncos head coach Eric Weddle recorded 142 yards passing wasn't enough as in for Mission Hills Troy Huhn threw for 136 yards with 4 touchdowns, and contributed on a 72 yard touchdown run defeated the Broncos of Rancho Bernardo by a 56-0 score. 

DJ Zapata Interim Head Football Coach at Mission Hills:  "It was a fun special night for the kids which is a very special one you hope you get games like this to play on the field for the experience and that's what we did tonight which was exciting." "When we keyed in on Gage Weddle our outside corners did well by containing him he is an outstanding football player ."  "Patrick Fleming is a senior captain for us he is on both sides of the ball is a warrior for our squad." It's another game week for us vs. San Marcos were going to get ready in practice before next Friday."

Carlsbad defeats previously undefeated Mission Hills 31-17

Willauer-Contributing Writer-Jack Ashby Field at Grizzly Stadium-Mission Hills High School-San Marcos, CA-Friday, October 11, 2025.  In a battle of 2 undefeated ranked San Diego High School ranked football teams that was held at Mission Hills, the Lancers trailed 17-14, QB Eli MacNeal son of head football coach Thadd McNeil threw his first game winning touchdown pass to teammate Rocky Cummings for 16 yards for Carlsbad's first lead at 21-17.   Beckham Phillipi followed with a 38 yard field goal which put the Lancers up by 7 at 24-17, Eli MacNeil threw his second touchdown pass of the game to Rocky Cummings for 17 yards which made the final score 31-17

Fallbrook Warriors defeats Escondido 27-24 Snap 13 game losing streak.

 By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-Warriors Stadium-Fallbrook High School-Fallbrook, CA-Friday, August 29, 2025:  Last week the Warriors of Fallbrook snapped their 13 game streak on home turf as they defeated the Cougars of Escondido by a 27-24 score.  


But yesterday's game was a different outcome as they suffered their first defeat at the hands of the Cougars of Canyon Springs by a 35-14 score.  

The Cougars led 21-0 at the half and scored 1 touchdown in 3rd and 4th quarters.  Fallbrook's two touchdowns came as Nathan Wagner scored 1 touchdown run of 9 yards.  Teammate Carter Sanchez ran an 89 yard pick six return for a touchdown to make the final score 35-14 in favor of Canyon Springs. 

 John Hollcraft First Year Head Football Coach at Fallbrook:  "We needed to play a cleaner game, when we played Escondido we were penalized a lot, too much talking but we did well on the turnover battle, you can't have mistakes like that but we had some big game plays."   "When we trailed 21-0 we battled back as Nathan Wagner and Carter Sanchez did their jobs on the field:"
" You can see that our defense is starting to give up points in the first half, for us we have to work on the game mentality for us to prepare on the next contest at Valley Center" .

"In our first game vs Escondido, our squad came out full of energy on the defensive side of the ball we also used 2 qb's for us to make big plays that we needed too Our field goal kicker Alan Gutierrez gave us the 34 yarder for our victory."  said Coach Hollcraft.  

Grant Hull led the Warriors with 61 yards rushing.  Teammate Harrison Jones passed for 62 yards.  

The Warriors 1-1 next game will be at Valley Center on Friday, September 4th kickoff is at 7 PM.
